MARYLAND IECC Testing

Maryland Service Area

Blower Door & Duct Leakage Compliance

Maryland has adopted the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) statewide, with enforcement at the county level. All new residential construction must verify compliance through third-party air leakage and duct leakage testing.

Green Habitat Energy provides certified Blower Door and Duct Leakage (IDL) testing throughout Maryland.

Maryland Air Leakage Requirements

Most of Maryland falls within:

  • Climate Zone 4 (Central & Coastal)

  • Climate Zone 5 (Western MD)

Typical requirements:

  • Maximum 3 ACH50 (Air Changes per Hour at 50 Pascals)

Testing must be performed using calibrated equipment and documented for permit approval.

Maryland Duct Leakage Requirements

Duct systems must be tested at 25 Pascals and meet:

  • ≤ 4 CFM per 100 sq ft (Rough-In Test), or

  • ≤ 8 CFM per 100 sq ft (Post-Construction)

Local jurisdictions may enforce amendments, which we stay current on.
