Blower Door Testing

Blower door testing measures air infiltration through the building envelope to verify compliance with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and applicable jurisdictional requirements.

A calibrated blower door fan is installed in an exterior doorway to pressurize or depressurize the building. Air leakage is measured and quantified to determine overall envelope airtightness and confirm that required jurisdictional airtightness requirements, including required air changes per hour (ACH50) thresholds as adopted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.

Blower door testing is commonly required for new residential construction, multifamily buildings, and qualifying renovations as part of permit close-out, final building inspection and use and occupancy approval.

Green Habitat Energy provides third-party blower door testing with permit-ready documentation aligned with local inspector expectations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

IECC Air Leakage Testing (IDL)

Code Compliance for Residential Construction

The International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) establishes mandatory air sealing and duct tightness requirements for new residential construction. Blower Door and Duct Leakage (IDL) testing are required verification measures to confirm compliance prior to final inspection and certificate of occupancy.

Green Habitat Energy provides certified third-party testing services to verify IECC compliance across the Mid-Atlantic region.
